The Person Who Created the "World's Worst Dating Profile" Doesn't Understand Dating Profiles
Yet another ambitious experiment conducted from the confines of a writer's safe little bedroom. This time, it's a woman named Alli Reed, in a Cracked articled titled "4 Things I Learned from the Worst Online Dating Profile Ever."
Ms. Reed's conclusion, which she arrived at long before even conducting the experiment, is that a vast majority of men are horn-dogs who will insert themselves in anything, even in a woman who clearly says, from the get-go, that she's a man-eater and a bunny-boiler.
Need we go on?
So she recruited her best friend, who was far more attractive, to pose for pictures as the white-hot aaroncarterfan. The writer makes up "over the top" statements for the fake OK Cupid profile, such as:
Im a Godess and i do Me!!!! IF u cant handle me at my worst u dont deserve me at my best.
What's the Problem Here?
- This Is Normal: This fake OK Cupid profile is not a whole helluva lot different from many other real or fake OK Cupid profiles already clogging up that popular dating site. In short, we've seen this thing a hundred times already.
- This Is Not About OK Cupid: This fake person essentially is saying, "Go out with me and it's guaranteed that you'll get lucky." She dangles that enticing carrot in front of men's faces. Since time immemorial it's been established that people--each gender, not just men--will go to any length for that reward. So, this has nothing to do with OK Cupid and dating profiles; this is about the nature of desire.
- Who's the Scammer Here? Writer, are you sure that many of these guys aren't screwing with you, as much as you're screwing with them? When we spent time on the Tinder dating app for our review, messing with the scammers was the only way we could maintain enough interest to get through the experience.
